RUE DU FOUR
maison de village
The second gem in our collection : meet Rue du Four, our maison de village !
In the South of the Ardèche, in the beautiful and historic village of Berrias-et-Casteljau we found this stunning, small 19th century silk factory. Litterally located at the starting point of a magnificent hike that takes you to the famous Bois de Païolive and the Corniche du Gorge de Chazzesac. Close to major tourist sites such as the Vallon de Pont d’Arc, the Grotte Chauvet and the Aven d’Orgnac. Berrias is a 10 minutes’ drive from the colorful bohemian town of Les Vans, boasting a couple of fabulous restaurants, one of them Michelin starred.
A detached house, with an inner courtyard shaded by the old fig tree. In the courtyard there is another, tiny, traditional stone house on one side and outdoor vaulted cellars on the other. Alongside the stone garden wall, a heated swimming pool tops it all off. You will find absolute calm here, right in the heart of a spectacular natural park, pepered with vibrant villages. Peace and aesthetics go hand in hand here. Right outside the courtyard, a country lane leads us to the large enclosed garden with its ancient stone walls bordered by a gently babbling brook.
On the ground floor you’ll find a private boutique with an épicerie fine and cave à vin. Upstairs, the house is divided into two levels. A large living room, a vast kitchen area, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Good for 4 to 6 people. The house is spacious and light, warm and welcoming and it overflows with charm !
